The Global Enterprise Challenge (GEC) is an annual business enterprise initiative run by Broadclyst Community Primary School (BCPS) in Devon, UK. Each year, students aged between 9 and 15 participate, in teams across more than 20 different countries.

The GEC was developed by BCPS in 2014, when it won a competition run by Microsoft within its Showcase School community across the world. It incorporates a wide range of business skills while encompassing many different elements of the school curriculum, putting the childrens learning into a real-life context and using Microsoft Office 365 technology to allow worldwide collaboration and creativity.

2018 Winners Announcement

After six months of hard work, innovation, creativity and team working, all the GEC teams have been waiting excitedly to hear which team would be chosen by the GEC judges. The judging team had a very difficult task, and based their shortlisting and final decisions on a number of criteria, including profitability, quality of work and final report quality. They also took feedback from the project coordinator Chloe Farrant and looked at the online work and collaboration evident in the team's Sharepoint site and Yammer groups. It was a very difficult decision!

The GEC is about 5 months from start to completion. The challenge is organised into a timeline with set stages to help participating schools stay on track and so that children from across the different countries are able to share their ideas at each stage of the project with each other.
